Profile
Marianne Savory is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Professional Skills at Leeds University Business School and the School’s Director of Student Opportunities and Experience. Her work focuses on supporting students to develop the skills, confidence, and reflective capacity needed to navigate the workplace and their lifelong learning.
She teaches on both postgraduate Human Resource Management programmes, where she integrates reflective learning, professional development, and industry-informed perspectives into the student experience. Drawing on a background in recruitment and HR, Marianne brings practical insight to her teaching, helping students make meaningful connections between academic learning and the realities of working life. She also has a lead role for the CIPD.
Marianne holds a degree in Law LLB (Hons), MSc in Human Resource Management and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her academic interests include experiential learning, reflection, and creative approaches to teaching that encourage students to articulate their skills and values with clarity and confidence. She is particularly interested in supporting students as individuals, recognising that success can take many forms, and that each student’s journey—both at university and beyond—will be shaped by their unique goals, experiences, and aspirations.
